The City of Cadiz has many exciting events planned in the downtown area for the upcoming summer months. Plans for these events began to take place at the Renaissance on Main meeting that was held April 21.

Paul Fourshee, head of the economic restructuring committee, has been researching the possibility of downtown Cadiz being set-up with Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is short for wireless fidelity. This feature would allow Internet users in the downtown area to be able to access the Internet without all of the standard cords and wires. The entire downtown area would be Internet friendly to people with laptops.

Wi-Fi would allow people to sit and work in downtown Cadiz and have Internet access. The businesses in the downtown area would also benefit from the availability of the Internet.

Fourshee announced at the meeting that two men from Louisville will be visiting Cadiz to determine if the downtown area is ideal for Wi-Fi. "They are going to explain to us the possibilities and the costs," Fourshee said.

These men work for a company that has installed Wi-Fi in airports, colleges and hotels. Their first visit to the area is free of charge.

Other events to look forward to this summer are the annual 68/80 Yard Sale. Many individuals and businesses will be participating in the event. Cindy Scholar, Main Street manager said, "Anyone who has property on 68/80 that would be interested in leasing spots on it for the weekend should contact me at City Hall."

On June 4 Take A Kid Fishing will be held at West Cadiz Park. "We fish for a couple of hours and then we feed everybody. It really is a good time," said Sholar. More information is available at City Hall.

On July 9, Summerfest will be held in downtown Cadiz and on July 23 Chamber of Commerce and Renaissance on Main will sponsor Picnic in the Park in West Cadiz Park. Plans are still being made for both of these events.

Anyone interested in the Farmer's Markets will be glad to hear that the first Framer's Market of the year will be held on May 4. These events will be held on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the summer and will end in October. Plans are still being made for the Craft Market that began last fall.

It is only a matter of time before the City of Cadiz is bustling with summer fun. Make plans now to attend these events and take advantage of the warm weather. Contact Cindy Sholar for more information about these events.
