The Trigg County Cooperative Extension Office welcomed Family and Consumer Science Agent Brandi Bynum to the office last week.

Bynum said that she was new to the Extension Service after graduating from the University of Kentucky in December of 2006, and looked forward to her first job in her chosen field. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science.

Originally from Paducah, Bynum said, “I wanted a job in cooperative extension and Trigg County had an opening. I like working in a smaller community.”

Her duties will include working with several homemaker groups and conducting training sessions for leaders to pass lessons on to their groups. “I will be teaching lessons on how to prepare food quickly and easily, and offering tips on nutrition and health,” Bynum said.

She said that she is looking forward to working not only with the homemakers of Trigg County, but plans to be involved in the schools to impart good nutritional habits on the younger residents of the county. She also hopes to become involved in the Senior Citizens’ Center.

“I want to be a facilitator if new ideas and offer some new tools to the community as a whole,” she said.
