Brandi Bynum, extension agent for family and consumer science, said the program would last eight weeks. She said the goal is to get participants to exercise for 15 minutes a day for five to seven days a week. Each 15 minutes of physical activity will count as one “physical activity mile.”
Bynum said it costs nothing to take part in the program and that one needs to do is stop by the extension office and sign up. Participants will be handed a logbook and “Get Moving Kentucky!” water bottle and tote bags. For those that maintain their goals and keep their progress documented, they get a chance to win a drawing for a $75 gift certificate for Hibbett Sports.
Bynum said that the campaign is statewide and that she has been working closely with the Christian and Todd County extension offices to organize it. She said she hoped a lot of people would get involved with the program, especially since the weather has become nice again. Although 15 minutes might not seem like much to some, she said it was a good place to start.
