Mr. Birdsong died Friday, April 30, 2010, at Alive Hospice at Skyline Madison Campus in Madison, Tenn.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a member of Donaldson Creek Baptist Church, Cadiz Masonic Lodge No. 121 and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181.
He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Birdsong and Cameron Adkins of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Karen and John Thorpe of Cadiz, one son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Amanda Birdsong of Madisonville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Vonda and Wayne Colson of Murray, Dorothy Stroup of Benton and Kay and Kenny Wright of Hardin; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Conroy and Pearl Birdsong of Murray, Donnie and Debbie Birdsong of Hardin and Ronnie and Karen Birdsong of Madisonville; five grandchildren, Stephanie Thorpe of Cadiz, Zach Thorpe of Cadiz, C.J. Adkins of Hendersonville, Tenn., Abigale Birdsong of Madisonville and Jared Birdsong of Madisonville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Birdsong, mother Velma (Turner) Birdsong, two brothers, Jim Birdsong and Bill Birdsong, and one sister, Diane Higgins.
Serving as pallbearers were John Thorpe, Cameron Adkins, Jason Birdsong, Zach Thorpe, C.J. Adkins and Tim Birdsong. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Cunningham, Carl Jones, Jr., Ronnie Birdsong, Donnie Birdsong and Conroy Birdsong.
