The Trigg County Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Anglers will be having their annual Kids Fishing Derby Saturday, July 24.

Registration will begin at 7:15 a.m. at the Lake Barkley State Resort Park boat ramp. The derby will take place from 8-11 a.m.

There will be awards for Big Fish, Most Fish, and Most Total Weight for each of the two divisions – 8-years-old and younger and 9-15 years old.

Only the fish caught by the children shall be brought back to the weigh-in. The tournament organizers ask you to use your best judgment for how much help that the children need, such as baiting, casting and setting the hook.

Because FOCAS wants to teach the children to follow the rules and regulations, they will abide by all size limits. The bass limit is 15 inches, while the crappie limit is ten inches.

FOCAS also asks that you try to keep the fish alive so that we can practice catch and release unless you plan to take the fish home to eat.

Because several people will use boats, lifejackets for the children are required.
