Mrs. Fern Standard Spurlin, 81, of Elkton passed away at 2:19 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2007, at her residence of natural causes. Mrs. Spurlin was born in Hueysville, Kentucky on September 13, 1925. She is the daughter of the late James Harold and Vassie Allen Martin. She was a Homemaker, Retired Beautician, and was a retired School Teacher in Ballard County, Kentucky. She was a member of the Trenton Assembly of God Church and the Eastern Star. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with Rev. Terry Rigsby officiating. Burial followed in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Spurling was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed “Chum” Standard in 1993. Survivors include her husband, Raymond Lee Spurlin of Elkton and formally of Cadiz, one son Mike Castle of Elkton, one daughter, Karen Dixon of Canton, Georgia, one brother, Gregory Martin of Akron, Ohio, three sisters, Vivian Owens of Lexington, Ky., Allene Knight of Louisville Ky., and Glenda Thornsberry of Franklin, Tennessee, and three grandchildren.
