The results in that case, however, were entirely different than the verdicts issued last week against two Trigg County men accused of shooting a Princeton man last winter at a Cerulean night spot.
Following about two days of testimony, the prosecutor failed to convince a jury of six men and six women that Michael Cunningham had shot a night clerk at Lake Barkley Lodge and made off with the night’s receipts.
The man had been charged with the murder and robbery but was acquitted after a defense by attorney Tom Osborne that punched holes in the prosecution’s case.
In that case, the prosecution called several witnesses that placed the defendant at the scene about the time of the crime.
Following the acquittal, no one else was ever charged with the murder or robbery.
