Five Trigg County Middle School wrestlers qualified for the state tournament at the 1st Region meet held Saturday at Union County.

Jeremiah Kline won in the 82-pound weight class, while Skylar Pool was second at 131, Daniel Ingram was second at 103 and Aaron Stevens was second at 185. Jayven Jones took third at 140 pounds.

All five will compete in the state meet Feb. 6 at Central Hardin High School.

Trigg head coach Ralph Stevens said Ryan Gallogly finished fifth in the 110-pound class, barely missing a berth in the state meet. Zach Colbert also wrestled for Trigg in the 70-pound division. Trigg finished third out of 14 teams overall, Stevens said.

Trigg’s high school team also competed Saturday at Union County in the 1st Region dual meet. The Wildcats finished seventh and won against Caldwell County and Paducah Tilghman.

The high school team is in action again Saturday at Calloway County.

Trigg Elementary students ages 4-12 will be able to sign up for the youth wrestling program this week. Registration forms will be available in the elementary school office.
