Mrs. Wilford died of natural causes at 2:49 a.m. September 10, 2010 at the Madisonville RMC.
She was born January 1, 1927 in Trigg County to the late Ephfrom Wharton Sr. and Katie B. Patterson.
She was a member of the Montgomery Elizabeth Baptist Church where she held church officer positions as the Oldest Mother on the Mothers Board, Sunday school teacher, choir member and usher. She was a retired seamstress at Elk Brand Manufacturing. She was a 4H club leader, Ebony Twilight Homemaker, recipient of the Little River Cumberland Valley District Outstanding Woman of Distinction Award. She was also a reader for the Kentucky Center for the Blind & Physically handicapped.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Lee Wharton.
She is survived by two sisters, Virginia Rogers of Cadiz, Alva (and husband
Leroy) Bacon of Hopkinsville; one son, Bennie Wilford Jr. of Cadiz; three daughters, Mary Bridges of Cadiz, Barbara (and husband John) Soules of Cadiz and Laura K. (and husband Marshall Sr.) Butler of Pembroke; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; four sister in laws, Dorothy Wharton of Cadiz, Julia Blaine, Della Wilford, Betty Bingham and Darlene Wilkerson.
