Funeral services for Flossie Skinner Compton, 92, of Carbondale, Ill., formerly of Paducah and Trigg County, were conducted on Saturday, November 11, 2006, at 2 p.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Rev. Irvin Darnall officiated at the services. Burial followed in Union Hill Cemetery in Trigg County.

Mrs. Compton died on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at 5:28 p.m., at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Carbondale, Ill., of natural causes.

Mrs. Compton was born on October 13, 1914, in Trigg County. She was the daughter of the late Emmet Nicholas and Ivey Inez Cherry Skinner.

Mrs. Compton was retired from the Illinois Central Hospital as a Seamstress; and was a member of West End Baptist Church in Paducah.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas O’Dell Compton; five brothers, Roy Skinner, Gilmus Skinner, Leonard Skinner, Dallas Skinner, and Shelton Skinner; and two sisters, Lee Emma Howell and Nella Mae Swinney.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Nancy Compton of Carbondale, Ill.; a sister, Bessie Daubney of Oceanside, Calif.; two grandchildren, Angela Lynn Compton and Stephen Lee Compton, both of Carbondale; and a great-grandchild, Benjamin Michael Compton.

Clay King, vocalist and pianist, provided the music.

Serving as pallbearers were Charles Thomas Compton, Bill Compton, James “Sonny” Compton, Donnie Compton, and Charles Compton.
