In April, high school teacher Donna Kranz filed criminal charges against Chad Pruitt accusing him of terroristic threatening. In her statement, she said she had heard from colleagues that he had made threatening remarks on more than one occasion. Pruitt’s preliminary hearing was last week, during which Greg asked that the charge be dismissed.
On Monday, County Attorney H.B. Quinn said he had come to an agreement with Pruitt and his attorney, Greg Pruitt, to plead guilty to the lesser charge. Special District Judge William McCaslin, sitting in for Jamus Redd, asked Greg Pruitt if his client was prepared to plead guilty to the lesser charge and asked Chad the same. He said he was.
“Then the court has no reason not to accept your plea,” McCaslin said.
McCaslin asked Chad if he understood that he was waiving his rights by entering the plea, to which he said he did. He then entered his guilty plea.
Pruitt's sentence and reaction can be found in the latest Cadiz Record.
