During a closing luncheon for staff of the Trigg County Schools held Tuesday, four teachers and staff members received awards from the Primary and Intermediate School PTA.

Awards were presented to: second grade teacher Anna Merrick, Primary School Teacher of the Year; instructional assistant Suzanne Ledford, Primary School Staff of the Year; third and fourth grade math teacher Gena Allen, Intermediate School Teacher of the Year; and instructional assistant Kathy Proffitt, Intermediate School Staff of the Year.

Trigg County Primary and Intermediate School PTA president Cammie Evans presented the awards along with a $250 check to each recipient. “The PTA wanted to recognize the tremendous work of the teachers and staff of Trigg County Primary and Intermediate Schools,” explained Evans. “Although we could only recognize one teacher and one staff member from each school, we know they all work hard every day to teach our community’s most precious asset – our children. We realize they often have a thankless job, and we wanted them to know how much they are truly appreciated.”

Before presenting the awards Evans explained that teachers, staff and parents had an opportunity to nominate individuals for the four award categories. Each nomination was then scored by a committee. Thirteen nominations were submitted for the four awards.

A plaque will be made for each award category and hung in the school.

The Trigg County Primary & Intermediate School PTA is made up of parents and teachers of the two schools and seeks to provide support to encourage academic achievement.

This press release was submitted by Cammie Evans of the Trigg County Primary and Intermediate Parent-Teacher Association.
