Trigg County High School’s boys golf team continued its winning streak last week, and Cole Gardner made sure the Wildcats did it in style.

Trigg won a pair of matches against Crittenden County, and the Wildcat sophomore recorded a hole-in-one during Thursday’s match.

The Wildcats shot 160 to win Thursday at Lake Barkley State Resort Park’s Boots Randolph Golf Course, besting the Rockets score of 217. Last Tuesday, Trigg went to Marion Country Club and defeated Crittenden 161-190.

Gardner was medalist Thursday, with his ace on the par 3 eighth hole helping him to a score of 36. It was his first career hole-in-one.

Gardner was followed for Trigg by Derek Rogers (39), Ryan Ryssell (41), Nick Choate (44) and Austin Apsley (51).

In the junior varsity match, Trigg’s Trace Kuberski was medalist with a 49.

Last Tuesday, Choate earned medalist honors for the ‘Cats with a score of 38. Gardner shot 40, followed by Rogers with a 41, Russell at 42 and Apsley at 45.

Kuberski was medalist again in JV action with a 53, but Trigg lost that match 226-232.

The same day, three Lady Wildcats took to the course, and Sierra Bush birdied her first hole en route to medalist honors with a score of 46. Madison Chaney was second at 51, and Karli Bush shot 53 to take third.

Trigg County was scheduled for a competitive five-team match Tuesday at Boots with Christian County, Hopkinsville, Murray and Calloway County (results unavailable at press time). Trigg is set to play at Boots again Thursday and then next Tuesday at Mayfield Country Club.
