The “big” Cadiz Rotary check presented last month to the Genesis Express after School Tutoring Program is scheduled to go towards upgrading software used for the tutoring program. The funds will also help provide important tools that complement the academic curriculum currently being taught, K-12 in the School District with a focus on Mathematics. ,

The Rotary Club of Cadiz has been an active partner with Genesis Express, both with funding and after school participation since 1989,

“This program is obviously extremely important in helping the youth of our community to have an opportunity to attain academic achievements.” said Cadiz Rotarian Scott Sutherland.

Genesis is celebrating its 14th year of partnership with the Trigg County Schools, “We normally have between 25 to 30 students enrolled by the Monday after the Martin Luther King (MLK) holiday, and graduate them after the second week in May. What accounts for the success of this program is the great support received from friends like Cadiz Rotary and from the teachers we work with everyday. There is no doubt we couldn’t do what we do without these strong partnerships.” said George Radford, Genesis Express founding member

The Rotary club of Cadiz joins Rotary clubs around the world conducting projects that address early literacy training critical to the success of a child’s later education. Rotarians work with children, parents, and educators to encourage and build reading and mathematical skills at an early age.
