Graveside services for George David Colbert, Sr., 85, of Cadiz, were conducted on Friday, July 27, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Hurricane Cemetery in Cadiz. Burial followed.

Rev. Mike Wimberly officiated at the services. The Pennyrile Area Honor Guard provided Military Honors. Mr. Colbert died on Sunday, July 22, 2007, at 1:45 p.m. at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, of natural causes.

Mr. Colbert was born on Friday, September 30, 1921, in Eagle Creek, IL. He was the son of the late Virgil and Martha E. (Elliott) Colbert.

Mr. Colbert was a retired mechanic. He was a member of Rockcastle United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Lions Club, VFW, Amvets, and he was a US Army Veteran, serving in WWII.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Lynn (Jones) Colbert, three brothers, Bob Colbert, Frank Colbert, and James Colbert.

Survivors include three sons and daughters in law, David E. and Deborah Colbert, of Cadiz, George and Joy Colbert, Jr. of Cadiz, Todd Colbert, of Lawrenceville, GA, two sisters, Mildred Gresham, of Munster, IN, Margaret Moore of Birmingham, AL, seven grandchildren, Zackary Colbert, Hannah Colbert, Kimberly Colbert, Amy and Eric Long, David Dutkiewicz, Michael Dutkiewicz.
