Funeral services for George C. Major, 90, of Cadiz, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at King’s Funeral Home. The Revs. O.D. Boyd and Wayne Glass officiated, and burial followed in East End Cemetery.

Mr. Major died at 12:15 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at his residence after a short illness.

He was born February 23, 1919 in Trigg County to the late Selden T. Major and Mary Cunningham Major. He was a member of Ponderosa Baptist Church and a retired Major in the United States Army. He was also a member of the Foreign Miss-ions and an active member and worker of numerous churches.

Survivors include a nephew, Jim Beck of Nashville, Tenn.; two nieces, Trudy Abaya and Terrye Blystone, both of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; several cousins and a special family, The James Ladd Family

He was preceded in death by one brother, Trim Major, and one sister, Mary Beck.

Pallbearers were Ernie Wadlington, Dickie Oliver, Todd Ladd, Charles Litchfield, Bob Lester, Joe Anderson and Charles Butts. Honorary pallbearers were David McCraw, Donnie McCraw, George Colley, Robbie Flood, Vernon Hendricks, Danny Thomas, Ron Jones, Keith Gibbs, Dennis Seeley, Sr., Ben Arnold, Norman Cotton, Ray Burnam, Buddy Boswell and Ralph Calhoun.
