Oakland Manor in Christian County was the setting for the exchange of Wedding Vows of Sara Jane Ginn and 2nd Lt. Samuel Allan Arnett, U.S. Army, on Saturday, August 27, 2005.

Rev. Jeff Slone, a close friend, officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of David and Becky Ginn of Cerulean.

The groom is the son of Ronnie Arnett of Anchorage, Alaska, and Harold Arnett of St. Joseph, Mo.

The bride wore a sleek ivory satin floor-length halter gown and veil, which was handmade by her late Grandmother Hart. She carried a round clutch bouquet of vogue and lyda spray rose blossoms arranged in an array of color variety, which consisted of pale shades of pink tied with a soft pink ribbon.

The groom wore military officer dress blues with white gloves and carried a ceremonial saber.

The colonial mansion, which is dated back to the late 1800s, captured the couple’s desire of a natural and elegant location for the ceremony. As nightfall approached, tiny tea light candles provided a natural glow, which resembled fireflies. Harpist, Carolyn Milam, cousin of the bride, provided an enchanting ambience of classical music, which added an element of class and style.

The bride chose her sister, Callie Cundiff, to serve as Maid of Honor.

Serving as Bridesmaids were Shannon Brown and Ashley P’Pool, cousins, and friends, Kimberly Slone, Margo Carnahan, Keesha Bridgman, Lisa Holt, and Stephanie Ward. They wore black, strapless, knee-length dresses and carried a pink assortment of vogue rose blossoms tied with a soft pink ribbon.

Alli Cundiff, niece of the bride, served as Flower Girl. She wore a white satin, floor-length dress and a halo of baby’s breath in her hair.

The groom chose his brother, Capt. Michael Arnett of the U.S. Army, also dressed in military officer dress blues, to serve as his Best Man.

Serving as Groomsmen were Daniel Arnett, Benjamin Arnett, and Jeremiah Arnett, brothers of the groom, and John Oliver, Doug Herring, Brad Heacox, and Jared Lencki, friends. They were dressed in black classic two-button tuxedos and wore pink boutonnieres.

Reed Ginn, brother of the bride, served as Usher.

Close friend, Capt. Nathan James of the U.S. Army, played the Celtic bagpipes as the father of the bride escorted the bride down the aisle.

The bride’s great uncle and aunt, R.W. and Mary Keller, read 1 Corinthians 13. The couple fittingly celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary this year. Following the ceremony, an outdoor reception was held at Oakland Manor, where the wedding party started off the evening of celebration with entertainment with a Wedding Party Waltz to Tchaikovsky’s Flower Waltz. An after reception social was held at the Pennyrile State Resort.

The couple honeymooned in Negril, Jamaica, at the beautiful Samsara Resort in a bungalow overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

The couple resides in Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., while Lt. Arnett has been training in the Military Police Officer Basic Course and graduated in January. The couple will move to Germany at the end of February for their first permanent duty assignment.
