Wendell Wallace said that the Golden Pond School drew students from the Land Between the Lakes or Land Between The Rivers area. “They had one room schoolhouses before, and the Golden Pond School opened to bring everyone together. At one time, we had classes all the way through high school and the 12th grade.”
Wallace said that he attended school through grade 8, and then was bussed to Cadiz for his final four years. His final year at Golden Pond was 1954.
With friend Earl Crump, Wallace speculated about the year the Golden Pond School was closed. “The school was still open when they started buying everyone out in 1962-63,” Wallace said.
