Trigg County saw their streak of 28 consecutive wins on the links snapped by
Bowling Green Saturday at the Hopkins County Central Invitational at the Madisonville County Club.
Trigg’s team score of 312 was good enough for second place and was nine shots behind the first place Purples out of 23 teams participating in the match.
The Wildcats edged rival Paducah Tilghman by one shot.
Curtis Mitchell tied for third place with a 1-over par 72, while Bradley Sutherland added a 76. Tyler Mitchell shot a 78, and Jordan McNichols an 86 for the Wildcats.
Trigg County is now 39-1 in invitational play this year.
Bowling Green’s Jordan Bland took medallist honors with a 1-under 70, which was one stroke better than Paducah Tilghman’s Chris Griffin.
Meanwhile, Trigg County remained unbeaten on the golf links in dual matches with three consecutive home wins at Boots Randolph Golf Course.
Three different golfers took home medalist honors in the matches for the Wildcats, who ran their match record to 11-0.
Bradley Sutherland fired a 1-under-par 35 on the front nine of Boots Aug. 26 to help lead the Wildcats to a 24-stroke win over Crittenden County.
Curtis Mitchell added a 38, while Tyler Mitchell shot a 39. Jordan McNichols rounded out the scoring with a 40 as the Wildcats totaled a 152.
Crittenden’s top golfer was Jake Travis, who shot a 42. Crittenden County finished with a team score of 176.
The Wildcats had one of their closer dual matches of the year Aug. 24 against Livingston Central but still beat the Cardinals 153-165.
Sutherland’s 2-under-par 34 was good for medallist honors, while Curtis Mitchell shot a 37, McNichols a 39, and Michael Holloway added a 43.
Jamie Martin and Jamie Wharton each shot a 3-over 39 for Livingston Central.
Three scores at or below par on Aug. 19 helped the Wildcats to an easy 26-shot win over Caldwell County in a dual match at Boots.
Tyler Mitchell and Jordan McNichols each shot a 1-under-par 35, while Curtis Mitchell added an even-par 36. Sutherland added a 38 to round out Trigg’s team total of 144.
Barrett Boyd led Caldwell County with a 2-over 38.
