Got a minute, my friend?

Got a minute friend? There are two things I want to talk about, Wildcats and wild cats. I want you, my loyal and above average reader to think for a minute about the little Mountain Lion mix-up.

When the pictures first circulated via Al Gore’s internet, I downloaded one to my photo editing program. All digital pictures have certain data imbedded, one of which is time and date of photo capture.

November 9, 2007 was the date these photos were taken. That little fact alone kind of messes up the story, but there was more scientific evidence. I checked with my brother David, in Rockcastle, a skeptic by nature, who in turn checked with the officials at Handy Corner and none had seen the big cat or knew personally of anyone that had, so “No Virginia”, there is no Mountain Lion in Trigg County.

Then the guys that had started the joke, which I give an A+, came clean and it would appear the whole thing had run its course. However, even after all the disclosures, there were still those that declared they had really seen some of these big cats.

One lady said the one she saw was not only huge but also had two cubs with her, which proves there is not only one big cat lurking out there but new ones growing up as we sleep.

A good big cat scam is slow to die!

I have to admit I was a little disappointed to learn it wasn’t true. I am of the opinion some of those among us need a little danger out there. I would bet there would be people fishing from the banks of Lake Barkley in the area in question that wished a Mountain Lion would try something funny with them.

Truth be told, it’s only been a couple hundred years since our forefathers chased the Indians off their land and did battle with bears and wildcats in the backyard while trying to keep their scalp under their hat, so it’s not all out of our DNA just yet.
