Mr. Grover Gelbert Cornwell Jr., 93, of Elkton formerly of Cadiz, KY, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2007 at his residence of natural causes. Services were conducted Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Latham Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Sweeney and Rev. Autry Moore officiating. Burial followed in the House Cemetery at Linton, KY.

Mr. Cornwell was born in Mobile Alabama on September 15, 1915 the son of the late Grover Cornwell Sr. and Bessie Helburn Cornwell. He was a retired Senior Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force after 28 years. During this time he served in World War II and Vietnam. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by one son Grover Gelbert Cornwell III in 2006. One stepdaughter Joyce Ann Tabb McKinney in 2002.

Survivors include his wife Mary Louise Tabb Cornwell of Elkton, one daughter Joyce J. Crawford of Elm Grove, LA, two step sons Eddie Tabb of Hopkinsville, KY, Earl Tabb of Elkton, KY, three step daughters Eveline Sweeney of Clifty, KY, Josephine Tabb and Mary Ann Rager both of Elkton, KY, two brothers Ray and Murrey Cornwell both of Des Allemands, LA, two sisters Sara Cornwell of Louisana, Corabelle Cortez of Des Allemands, LA, 26 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, fourteen step grandchildren and seventeen step great grandchildren.
