Committee member Ann McCormick said she was considering ordering the pigs, which look like regular stuffed animals, but are hollow on the inside. The committee decided to order 150 of them and more in the future if they sell well this year. The official name for them is “plushies huggable animal bottle holders.” Committee Chairwoman Thelma Fowler noted that this would make three items that the Ham Festival Committee would be selling this year, in addition to ornaments and T-shirts.
Cindy Mitchell presented the design for this year’s Christmas ornaments. The committee voted to order 288. Mitchell said they sold very well, but thought there might be a small number left from last year.
Melissa Noel, who is in charge of booths, said she had already received eight or 10 requests from vendors already. She said that one was interested in selling pizza, which excited the committee members because pizza had not often been sold in the past. Noel said that another vendor was interested in selling ice cream, which had also previously been a rarity at the festival. She said she would send contracts to every vendor who came to the festival last year and see how many sent one back. She noted that there has never been a year where they have all come back. She said that anyone interested can fill out the application on hamfestival.com. She said that until the 2008 application is uploaded onto the site, the 2007 application would be acceptable.
