Ham Festival Kickoff breakfast is Monday

Tickets are still available for the annual Ham Festival Kickoff Breakfast, which will be at the Lake Barkley Convention Center at 6 a.m. on Oct. 8.

The Cadiz/Trigg County Chamber of Commerce will once again host the breakfast. Chamber president Kevin Atwood said tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at the Cadiz Tourism/Chamber office, the Bank of Cadiz and Integra Bank.

Paula flood said that this year’s speaker would be Mike Miller, Judge/Executive of Marshall County since 1974 would address the breakfast. “He used to do an awful lot of public speaking, but it has been a while since he was in Trigg County,” she said.

Flood said that Miller became one of the first judge/executives in the state when the legislature created the position. “He’s been in office ever since, and created the Marshall County Ambulance Service. He was the driving force behind creating the Marshal Co. park system, and has been active with public housing in Benton, Hardin and Calvert City. He has two children, two grandchildren, a Kentucky Colonel and Admiral, and has been active in politics all his life,” she said and listed numerous other civic accolades and awards.
