Ham radio operators wanted

The Local Emergency Planning Committee will have a public meeting on June 5 at the Trigg County Rescue Squad building to discuss emergency communication systems.

LEPC member Curran Copeland said that he wanted to encourage anyone interested in ham radios or other forms of emergency communications to come. He said that representatives from the Trigg County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, who will show the public their emergency communications van.

Copeland said that if a large-scale natural disaster were to hit the area, the only form of communication could be ham radios and similar equipment. He said he and other LEPC members were trying to set up a group that use this equipment in the case of such a disaster.
