Helping Hands’ marquis program has long been its Food Bank, located in the basement of the Trigg County Courthouse.

Now, as Christmas approaches, they are once again giving the gift of food — this time in the form of Christmas food baskets for the most needy of Trigg County residents.

K.G. Ariagno said the baskets are being made possible by Food Giant, who is providing the basket contents at deep discounts.

The baskets will include things like flour and sugar, milk and eggs, fruits and vegetables and a chicken, she said.

“All the things necessary for a Christmas dinner,” Ariagno said.

The baskets will be delivered on December 21, Ariagno said, “so they’ll know they’ll have food [for Christmas.]”

Currently, 14 baskets are to be delivered that day.

Ariagno said one family has stepped up to purchase ten baskets. She said they plan to send Christmas cards to ten friends, saying that a basket has been donated in their name.

Helping Hands are purchasing four baskets. Anyone who would like to purchase a Christmas basket to support a needy family should call K.G. Ariagno at home at 522-5615.

“It’s not hard to find people who are in need in Trigg County,” Ariagno said. “It’s hard to find enough resources to help.”
