Superintendent Tim McGinnis said he thought the council had made a wise choice.
“He comes with strong endorsements,” McGinnis said. “He is a hard worker who is willing to put in the time it is going to take to make the high school a top school.”
McGinnis also said Cummins has “good people skills” and “always puts students first.”
Cummins will be leaving his job at Browning Springs Middle School in Madisonville, where he has been assistant principal for the last three years. He is originally from Princeton, where he taught health and physical education for eight years at Caldwell County Middle School after leaving Trigg County.
Cummins taught at both Trigg County Elementary School and Trigg County Middle School in between 1985 and 1994.
Cummins said that he was very pleased with being selected as principal because in the nine years he worked in the district, he saw how Trigg County was a “great community to live and work in.”
“When the opportunity came to come back to Trigg County, I had no doubt it was what I wanted to do,” he said.
Cummins’ employment takes effect on July 1.
