Revs. Larry Purcell and Bob Lawrence officiated at the services. Burial followed in Lander Cemetery in Gracey.
Mrs. East died on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at 7:40 p.m., at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.
Mrs. East was born on April 7, 1936, in Trigg County. She was the daughter of the late Cecil and Carrie Belle Burgess Stewart.
Mrs. East had been a nurse in the office of Doctors Robertson and Cox for many years; and was a member of Second Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jefferey Mitchell; and a brother, Herschell Stewart.
Survivors include her husband, Ed East of Christian County; a stepdaughter, Julie Payton of Jacksonville, Fla.; a stepson Bryant East of Jacksonville, Fla.; three granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
