In memory of the soldiers who secured the freedom of American citizens, the James Thomas Chapter of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution, VFW Post 7890 and American Legion Post 74 held a memorial ceremony at the Trigg County Courthouse Monday.

On hand as the keynote speaker was Ret. Col. Bobby H. Freeman, of Hopkinsville. Freeman is a Vietnam veteran who also served in Washington and many other places around the world.

“Ladies and gentleman and particularly the veterans of all wars, we are gathered here to memorialize those comrades who did not come home with us,” Freeman said as he greeted the 100 plus attendants to the ceremony.

“We’ve come a long way, it’s a day of honor, a day of respect, it’s a day to remember our fallen comrades,” Freeman said.
