Funeral services for Hollis W. Carr, 89, of Cadiz, will be conducted on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Revs. Sam Beeny and Kevin Roberts will officiated at the services. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery West, in Hopkinsville.

Mr. Carr died on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at 2:45 p.m. at Western Kentucky Veteran’s Center in Hanson, KY of natural causes.

Mr. Carr was born on Tuesday, July 22, 1919, in Trigg Co. He was the son of the late Fay L. and Eva Lena Calhoun Carr.

Mr. Carr was retired from the US Army Corp of Engineer, where he was a lock foreman. He was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church. He was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, American Legion and the VFW.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Carr, and one sister, Bertha Herndon.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dean (Guier) Carr, of Cadiz, one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Christi Carr, of Paducah, one brother and sister-in-law, Garnett and Floella Carr, of Hopkinsville, and two grandchildren, John P. Carr, and William J. Carr.

Serving as pallbearers were John Carr, Will Carr, Mark Carr, Todd Ladd, Jim Mize and Jimmy Cherry.

Honorary pallbearers were the Brotherhood Association and Deacons of Cadiz Baptist Church, Jesse Sumner, Earl Carr, Jim Wallace, Denny Mize, James Ladd, Doyle Eddings, Jeff Hill and Bill Cunningham.

Mickey Watson, vocalist and Gary Thompson, pianist provided the music.
