What was supposed to be an ordinary fishing expedition turned deadly Friday as a Hopkinsville man drowned after a boat capsized on Kentucky Lake.

Larry Epps, 46, of Hopkinsville and two friends, Gerald Tatum and Lenny Jeffers were on a johnboat near the Fenton Access Area in the Land Between the Lakes in Trigg County.

Around 11 p.m., authorities said, the boat capsized. Tatum and Jeffers were able to swim to shore, however Epps was unable to make it to shore and apparently drowned.
