Ann Elyse Brasseale, age 4, of Newberg Ind. drowned at Lake Barkley on June 25.

Kentucky Department of Fish And Wildlife Resources First District Captain Bob Fralick said, “All we know at this time is that the child fell out of a boat. We received the call at 2:43 P.M, dispatched officers at 2:46 and were on the scene at 2:58. At that time, other boaters were assisting in the rescue. She was transported to the Trigg County Hospital where efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.”

Fralick said that the accident occurred in the Little River estuary near Sandy Beach. The boat was at anchor and state law does not require juveniles within anchored boats to wear personal floatation devices (PFD’s.)

“We have been told that while the boat was in transit and while she was swimming, she was wearing a PFD. When the boat anchored, she was not wearing a PFD,” Fralick said.
