Mark J. Hughes of Audubon Oil and Gas addressed the Trigg County Industrial Development Board about prospects of natural gas under their property.

“There is a deposit of shale under the industrial complex,” Hughes said. “It’s known as the New Albany Shale because it was found in New Albany, Indiana. We tried to map it, but it was bigger than we thought. There are producing gas wells in the shale.”

Hughes explained that his company was a leasing agent to act as a local broker for exploration and drilling companies. Currently, his firm has obtained leases from Broadbent’s and Scott Jolly, according to Hughes.
