Your Midcats first had to get past Livingston County. And they accomplished the feat this past Monday by defeating Livingston 65 – 27. The top scorers of the game were Jermya Love with 17 points, DeOnquez Nance with 15 points, David Wease & Jordan Davis both contributed 10 points each, Travis Desrochers added six points and Austin Durham five points in our winning effort.
The championship game pitted your Midcats against Crittenden County. Your Midcats performed better than ever expected. They raised the bar with tenacious defense, good hustle and lots of class, especially at the end of the game. At the end of the first half, your Midcats were all over the place. They were stealing basketballs, blocking shots and, basically, scoring at will. So much so, that went into the second half with a 31 – 11 lead.
The second half of the game was more of what was going on in the first half with your young men playing hard and with focus. By the sound of the last horn, the scoreboard read 62 – 32, with your Midcats obtaining their third district title in seven years. And, with your 7th Grade boys also winning the 7th Grade Fifth District title, for the third time in seven years, it is like déjà vu all over again!
The top scorers of the championship game were DeOnquez Nance with 16 points, Jermya Love with 15 points, Luke McKenzie contributing eight points, Jordan Davis adding six points and Austin Durham providing five for our Midcats. A special shout goes out to Crittenden County’s Matt Berry, who led Crittenden in scoring in the championship game. Way to go Matt!
