Sharon Butts, executive director of the economic development commission, said the end of production has been moved up from the plant’s original timetable that was announced last year, when the company told employees the plant was going to close.
Economic Development Commission Chairman Jim Wallace said it looks like the Johnson Controls Inc building won’t be available, and added that with the closure of the building, Cadiz and Trigg County are seeing what many other parts of the country are also seeing.
Butts did not know the reason why the closing was moved up, and JCI Plant Manager Chris Eisenhart was unavailable for comment at press time.
Although there are already ongoing recruitment efforts to find jobs to replace those that are being lost, those efforts are being stifled by current economic conditions, Butts and Wallace both said.
