JMAM Juried Show to start Friday evening

Janice Mason Art Museum announces the opening of its Biannual Juried Show on Friday, April 29, beginning at 6 p.m.

This marks the fourth time JMAM has held this juried show. Entries were accepted in any media from artists in any state that borders Kentucky. “I’m so excited to see this art come in.The wide variety of work and amazingly talented artists in our area make this such a special opportunity for artists and patrons alike” stated Administrator Paula Lisowsky. Many of these pieces will be for sale.

Juror for this exhibit is Professor Laurin Notheisen, who teaches design, drawing and printmaking at Western Kentucky University. Ms. Notheisen holds a BFA in painting and MFA in lithography from University of Illinois in Champagn-Urbana.

Her work is in collections at Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science, Bristol-Myers, Brown Forman, Louisville Gas and Electric, Mammoth Cave National Park, Arkansas State University and Austin Peay University. She was included in the KET production Looking at Painting Part I, Realism by Robert Tharsing.

Awards of up to $2,500 will be presented at the opening reception on Friday, April 29, beginning at 6 p.m. The public is invited to this reception and will have the opportunity to meet many of the artists. This exhibit will run through June 19.

The Janice Mason Art Museum is open Tuesdays – Saturdays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sundays 1 – 4 p.m. Evening hours can be arranged for group tours at no charge. Admission is free; donations are greatly appreciated.

Southern Kentucky Independent Theatre and Janice Mason Art Museum are subsidiaries of the Cadiz Community Arts Center. The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency supports the Cadiz Community Arts Center with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
