For the first time this year, the Janice Mason Art Museum will be offering a holiday craft workshop.

Local artist Sig Skundberg will teach two workshops on Dec. 15 at the museum. The first will be for children 11 and older will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. The second will be from 1 to 4 p.m. and will be for kids ages six to 10. The $25 cost covers all the materials. Preregistration is required, and can be done by calling the museum at 522-9056. There will be room for 10 in each class, Skundberg said.

Skundberg said that a friend of his who owns an art studio in Michigan had done the workshop for 15 or 20 years. He said it always been quite popular, so he was inspired to bring the idea to Cadiz.

The children will be making gifts to give away, which will include an ornament, a picture frame and wrapping paper decorated in paint with bell and tree-shaped sponges. He said that about five gifts would be made in all.

“They’ll be very busy for about three hours,” he said.
