Part-time museum employee and volunteer Toni Wolfe said that this exhibit and one coming soon from middle and high school students are the most well attended shows of the year after the annual display of Christmas trees. She said the art is always very colorful and that it is fun to watch the children excitedly come in with their parents and grandparents.
“It just makes you smile when you walk in,” Wolfe said.
Museum board member Paul Fourshee that the tradition dates back to several years before the museum opened. It is organized by the Parent Teacher Organization and the school (now two schools). After the museum opened, the museum was asked if they could host the show. It not just an exhibit, but also an art contest. First, second and third place prizes are awarded to children in each grade level.
