Rev. Steve Spitzer, Dr. Hilda Bentley, and Rev. Don Bunch officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Siloam Cemetery in Cadiz.
Mr. Alexander died on Friday, December 12, 2008, at 11:20 p.m., at his home of natural causes.
Mr. Alexander was born on February 24, 1924, in Cadiz. He was the son of the late Harvey T. and Pocahontas P’Pool Alexander.
Mr. Alexander was retired from South Central Bell in 1981, with 31 years of service, and also retired from the Trigg County School System as a bus driver; was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Italy during WWII; was a member of Woodman of the World; Telephone Pioneers; was a KY Colonel; and attended Cadiz United Methodist Church..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Cantrell, a brother, Charles Alexander and a nephew, Lee Haydon Alexander.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Choate Alexander of Cadiz; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Beverly Alexander of Cadiz; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Dan Oakley of Cadiz and Kathy and Joe Chewning of Cerulean; two brothers, William “Bill” Alexander of Cadiz and Robert Alexander of Columbia, Tenn.; three sisters, Linda Caldwell of Cadiz, Lorene Redick of Detroit, Mich., and Betty Estes of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Barry Alexander, Brandon Alexander, David Thomas, Sara Morgan Chewning and Daniel Oakley; and six great-grandchildren.
Pam Witty, organist, and Rev. Kevin Roberts, vocalist, provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were Jim Redick, John Redick, Mike Alexander, Bill Choate, Todd Cain, and Kevin Alexander.
Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Gish, Charles Morris, William “Moose” Morris, Donnie Ray Lancaster, Kenneth Cherry, and William J. Stewart.
