Funeral services for James “Chick” McCormick, 67, of Rice, Va., formerly of Cadiz, were conducted on Monday, August 8, 2005, at 11 a.m., at Sharon Baptist Church in Rice, Va. Burial followed in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. McCormick died on Friday, August 5, 2005, at his residence of natural causes.

Mr. McCormick was born on February 5, 1938, in Louisville. He was the son of the late Morris and Loretta Keene McCormick.

Mr. McCormick was retired from Arena Trucking Company; he was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 29 years; and he was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Betty A. McCormick, of Rice, Va.; two sons and daughter-in-law, James Scott McCormick, and John Daniel and Amy McCormick, all of Rice, Va.; a brother, Morris H. McCormick of Athens, Tenn.; two sisters, Gladys McCormick Walker of Jackson, Tenn., and Alice McCormick Wynn of Cadiz; three grandchildren, Nash McCormick, Ashley Clark, and Kenny Clark.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Cookus” McCormick, on June 25, 2005.
