Funeral services for James Douglas “Doug” Jones, 65, of Whiting, Ind., were conducted on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at 11 a.m., at the Whiting Baptist Church.

Rev. William Hall, pastor, officiated at the services. Interment followed at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Jones died on Saturday, August 2, 2008, at his residence, following a 22-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany from 1963-1966; and was retired from LaSalle Steel (Niagara) in 1987 with 20 years of service.

Survivors include his wife and care giver of 42 years, Carolyn Jones (nee Head) of Whiting; daughter and son-in-law, LaRhonda and Jerry Maynard of Merrillville, Ind.; two sons, Darron Jones and Eric Jones, both of Whiting; five grandchildren; father, Seldon Jones of Merrillville; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Mary Dugan of Terre Haute, Ind.; special cousin, Dixie Cherry of Highland; and some local cousins.

Daughter, Valerie; Mother, Louise; brother, Seldon “Danny” Jones; and stepfather, Lester Dugan preceded him in death.
