The Revs. Paul Cannon, Rev. Freddie Ezell, Rev. Billy Stamps, and Carolyn Gray will officiate at the services. Burial will follow in the Canton Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009 at King’s Funeral Home.
Mr. Hopson died at 8 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009 at his home of natural causes.
Mr. Hopson was born February 25, 1948. He was the son of the late James Lee and Mary bacon Hopson.
Mr. Hopson retired after 30 years of service form Phelps Dodge as a maintenance worker. He was a member of the Canton Baptist Church and a member of the Little River Baptist Men’s Choir.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Lee Roy Hopson and one sister, Emma Julia Ford.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Hopson, of Cadiz, two sons James Hopson, Jr., of Hopkinsville, Scotty Hopson, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn., three step sons, James Murphy, of Charleston, SC, Ronald Murphy, of Covington, Ky., Darron Murphy, of Hopkinsville, one daughter, Joy L. Hopson, of Hopkinsville; two step daughters, Sharlette Hayes, of Chicago, Ill., two sisters, Pauline Redd, of Orange, Cal., Charlene Redd, of Cadiz, two grandchildren, and nine grandchildren.
Serving, as pallbearers will be Doug Taylor, Barry Littlejohn, Jim Boren, Don Broughton, Raymond Stone, Jimmie Rogers, Tim Inman, and Tony Merrick.
Canton Baptist Church Choir, Betty Oakley, Organist, and Clarissa King, Pianist will provide the music.
