James “Jack” “Jasper” Phelps, 49, of Madisonville, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

He was born October 8, 1959, in Benton, to the late Bill Phelps in 2003. He was a sawmill worker for Avette Lumber Co. He attended Park Ave. Baptist Church in Madisonville. He was a renal dialysis patient for over 10 years.

He is survived by his mother, Eva Nell Phelps, of Madisonville; his wife, Connie Phelps, of Madisonville; two sons and daughter-in-law, Taylor Phelps and Andrea Phelps, of Pineville and James “Jay” Phelps, of Madisonville; two brothers, Mark Phelps, of Nortonville and Eddie Phelps, of Madisonville; two sisters, Debra Watkins, of Madisonville and Janet Davis of Nortonville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Madisonville with Rev. Douglas Anderson and Rev. Gary Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery in Hanson. Pallbearers will be Mark Eaves, Jamie Eaves, Randel Lamb, Jeremy Harris, David Gilbert and Jonathan Gehring.

Friends may call from 5p.m. until 7 p.m Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home and 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Park Avenue Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Park Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund and the local Kidney Foundation.
