Jena Lancaster received the award for the Most Improved Golfer for the Murray State University golf team at their recent banquet.

Lancaster has been a member of the Lady Racer golf team for the past two years and saw her first varsity action in the spring.

Lancaster also carries a 3.4 grade point average, which contributes to the MSU women’s golf team having the highest GPA of any athletic team on campus.

She competed in two tournaments for Murray State during her sophomore year, finishing 34th at the Big Rivers Telephone Classic in Murray in March with a two-day score of 186.

She also finished 81st in the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. in March with a two-day score of 188.

Murray State finished fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in April and is set to return five of their top seven golfers in the fall.

Jena is the daughter of Larry and Shelia Lancaster of Cadiz.
