Dr. Tom Martin officiated at the services. Graveside services and burial followed at 4:30 p.m., in the Woodville Cemetery in Kevil, Ky.
Mr. Steinbeck died on Sunday, March 11, 2007, in Nashville, Tenn., from complications of lung cancer.
Mr. Steinbeck was born on August 14, 1952, in Kevil. He was the son of Mary Louise Steinbeck of Kevil, and the late Jesse Dulin Steinbeck, Sr.
Mr. Steinbeck was a member of the Cadiz Christian Church, where he served in many capacities, including Deacon, Elder, Board Chairman, Youth Group sponsor, and was active in fundraising. He also served his community well in assisting with fundraisers such as TCHS Project Graduation, Ducks Unlimited on a regional and state level, and was chairman of the local chapter; as well as working with other local fundraisers. He qualified several Labrador retrievers as Master Hunter and one for the Master National Retrievers Hunt Test multiple times. He graduated from Ballard Memorial High School and Murray State University; and was a member of Alpha Gramma Rho fraternity. After school, Jesse and wife, Martha Lou, farmed in Ballard County for a few years, then moved to Cadiz where he managed Crop Production Services. He later joined Cundiff Farms as Farm Manager and continued to work there until being disabled.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife and high school sweetheart, Martha Lou Crice Steinbeck; and two daughters, Carrie Steinbeck and Kate Steinbeck, both of Cadiz.
His father, Jesse Dulin Steinbeck, Sr., preceded him in death in 1952.
Laura Grigson, pianist provided the music.
Serving as pallbearers were Ben Cundiff, Ray Parrott, Chris Drummond, Mike Moss, Bobby Holloway, Randy Stafford, Kenneth Carrico, and Clifford Romaine.
Honorary pallbearers were Deacons and Elders of the Cadiz Christian Church.
