Funeral services for Joan D. Wiist, 80, of Cadiz were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2010 at King’s Funeral Home.

The Revs. James Shuck and Kevin Roberts officiated the services. Burial followed in Trigg Memory Acres in Cadiz.

Mrs. Wiist died at 8:50 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at Trigg County Hospital after a short illness.

Mrs. Wiist was born March 28, 1929 in Union City, Ind. She was the daughter of the late George and Letha Byrum Noffsinger.

Mrs. Wiist was a retired teachers aide from Trigg County Elementary School. She was a member of the Cadiz United Methodist Church, where she had taught Sunday School, and attended the Rockcastle United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Cadiz Lioness Club, active in TOPS and active in Trigg TABS.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in the death by one brother, Jerald Noffsinger, and one sister, Jeanette Noffsinger.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Basil Wiist of Cadiz; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry J. Wiist and Kathy Myers of Highland, Ind., Dr. Lance J. and Linda Wiist of Duluth, Ga., and Lyle J. and Debbie Wiist of Magnolia Springs, Ala.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Liane J. and Jimmie McDowell of Hodgenville, and Laura J. and John Gray of Cadiz; one brother, George Noffsinger of Gulf Shores, Ala.; one sister, Joyce Ripp of Union City, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Shannon Godwin of Poland, Ind., Stacey Hast of Indianapolis, Ind., Janay McBride of Buffalo, Matthew McDowell of Hodgenville, Jonathan Gray of Ackworth, Ga., Jennifer Miller of Princeton, Joshua Gray of Cadiz, Melissa Kidwell of Sugar Hill Ga., Jordan Wiist of Cumming, Ga., Jessica Wiist of Duluth, Ga., Corey Wiist of Magnolia Springs, Ala., Cyle Wiist of Magnolia Springs, Ala., Callie Wiist of Magnolia Springs, Ala., and 13 great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Cyle Wiist, Jordan Wiist, Jonathan Gray, Josh Gray, Matthew McDowell, Rhett Miller, Jerry McBride and Jason Kidwell.

Jody Terrell, pianist, and Bruce Higbee, vocalist, provided the music.
