John Leslie Lander, aged 76, died Friday, Feb. 27, at his Trigg County residence of natural causes. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at 1 p.m. at Gamble Funeral Home.

Rev. Jerry Bacon will be officiating the service, and the burial will be at Little Mill Cemetery in Cadiz. Visitation was held at Gamble Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 3, from 5 – 7 p.m.

Lander was born on Oct. 27, 1932 to Leslie Harry Sander and Winnie Louise Lander. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church in Cerulean and was a retired heavy equipment operator at the Kentucky Stone Company in Princeton.

Lander was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Earlie Mae Lander.

He is survived by two sons, Larry and Harry Lander of Louisville, six daughters, Bertha Chambers, Felisa Lander and Sophia Acree of Cadiz, Orethia Lander-Mishio of Louisville, Leslie Washington of Clarksville, Tenn., and Glenda Johnson of Evansville, Ind.

Lander is also survived by two brothers, Henry Lender of Indianapolis, Ind., and Donald Lander of Cadiz, two sisters, Martha Roger of Indianapolis and Rose Copeland of Princeton, as well as 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
