Graveside services for John Scott, 66, of Cadiz were conducted on Monday, October 18, 2004, at 1:30 p.m., at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville with military honors. King’s Funeral Home was in charge of all the arrangements.

Rev. John Mitchell officiated at the services. Burial followed in the cemetery.

Mr. Scott died on Friday, October 1, 2004, at 12:19 a.m., at the VA Hospital in Birmingham, Ala., following a short illness.

Mr. Scott was born on February 12, 1938, in Logan County. He was the son of the late John H. and Genie Richey Scott.

Mr. Scott was a U.S. Navy Veteran; member of the American Legion; retired from CSX Railroad; and was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George Scott, Guy Scott, and Robert Scott; and two sisters, Burton Foster and Carolyn Grider.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Wayne Scott of Eddyville, and Ryan Andrew Scott of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Bobby Cunningham of Cadiz; a brother, Charles Scott of Brookeville, Ohio; two sisters, Jean Ballard of Franklin, and Martha Eddings of Elkton; three grandchildren, Chris Scott, Cory Scott, and Cayla Duncan, all of Cadiz; two step-grandchildren, Casey Cunningham and Jennifer Hull, both of Elkton; and three step-great-grandchildren, Weston Hull, Maeson Hull, and London Hull, all of Elkton.

Serving as pallbearers were David Eddings, Casey Cunningham, Terry Scott, Alan Grider, Chris Scott, and Bobby Crump.
