The University of Kentucky PEPP (Professional Education Preparation Program) Scholars is a summer program for students interested in medicine and dentistry.

It provides a unique educational opportunity for students preparing to enter college in a pre-med or pre-dental curriculum. While the student is on UK’s campus this summer, PEPP provides academic achievement in chemistry and biology as well as clinical experiences in all areas of the medical field.

The students will gain firsthand experience in the operating room, labor and delivery, special needs camp, and children’s hospitals. This program is highly selective as only 28 students from across the state of Kentucky were chosen out of a very competitive field of applicants.

Nancy Ellen Jolly has been selected as a UK PEPP scholar for the summer of 2011 at the University of Kentucky. Ellie is a 2011 graduate of Trigg County High School.

She was Salutatorian of her class, a Governor’s Scholar, A Kentucky New Era Academic All Star in Science, Vice President of her senior class, Captain of the Varsity Soccer team and she was involved in numerous other clubs and organizations. Ellie is the daughter of Scott and Ellen Jolly of Cadiz and the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Ballard Jolly.

This press release was submitted by Carol Leslie, MA, Director of UK PEPP and UK PEPP 11 Scholars, University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
