She was born August 16, 1922 in Trigg County, the daughter of James Samuel Light and Nettie Cameron Light.
She and her husband, James W. Calvert Sr., came to Oak Ridge in 1950.
Mrs. Calvert worked several years at the city Clerk’s office as a secretary. She had also worked for several attorneys and insurance agents over the years.
She was a long-time member of First Christian Church where she had been active in many of the church circles. She was also a member of Easter Star #390 and several bridge clubs, as well as the Oak Ridge Woman’s Club, where she chaired the Arts and Crafts section several times. Mrs. Calvert was well known for her creation of Faberge’ eggs. She also enjoyed sewing, painting and knitting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, James W. Calvert Sr., August 22, 1993, sister Louise Light Lancaster, of Cadiz.
She is survived by one son, James William Calvert Jr., and wife Barbara of Charleston, W.V. and two grandsons, Jonathan J. Calvert and wife Jennifer of Arlington, Va. and Thomas William Calvert of Fairfax, Va., and nieces and nephews of Trigg County.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Weatherford Mortuary. Burial followed at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
