This extended closure is to allow final work to tie in the new Little River Bridge to the existing roadway. This planned closure on Ky. 272 is near the 6 mile marker between Glenwood Mill Road and Sinking Fork Road in southern Trigg County.
There will be a marked detour for Ky. 272 via Kings Chapel Road. This detour will have an 18-ton load limit. Motorists should be aware of this planned closure of Ky. 272. Work to tie in the new bridge approaches is expected to take several weeks, weather permitting. ?This extended work will create inconvenience for motorists who regularly travel Ky. 272.
However, that brief inconvenience will be rewarded with a new and safer bridge. Approximately 1,000 vehicles travel this section of Ky. 272 in an average day. Jim Smith Contracting is the prime contractor on this $3.1 million highway improvement project.
